I’m launched on Kickstarter.com!  I’m raising money through the Kickstarter platform for my upcoming exhibition for Sacred/Wild featuring ink paintings of wild animals in spiritual spaces.  I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while and thanks to the encouragement of some good friends I decided to put something together.  It has been an amazing ride so far and I’m already close to 90% funded towards my project due to the huge support of friends, family and Kickstarter itself.  Here’s the link.

Here’s a simple pen and ink sketch of John, a former student at the Aegean Center.  John was a part of Free Draw, a  weekly event at the school where students go out and draw around town.  I drew him while we were at Agios Konstandinos as he was in the process of drawing another student.

I’ll be running a two week summer workshop,  The Craft of Watercolor, from June 10-24 on watercolor painting here in Paros, Greece.

It will be based at the Aegean Center and we will be doing work in studio and around the island.  I will be teaching watercolor technique and each of the participants will be able to develop their work in their own direction and approach.  My aim is for the students to find inspiration and the means to make works that they’re proud of in the two weeks that they’re here in Paros.  There will only be a small number of students, eight maximum, so there will be a lot of time to get to know the participants and really work with each of them.  So far it is shaping out to be a really interesting group–I know it’s going to be a great time for everyone.

Here’s a sketch made with Tombo markers of a big, beautiful dog–only one year old as I learned, on the ferry boat on a trip returning back to Paros last year. He was such a good dog, he stayed still and just hung out on the boat, though everyone that passed him, young and old had to stop and admire him.  Such a great dog.

I love the color of the sea right after the sun sets below the horizon.  It becomes a deep, indigo blue.  As Homer put it, a “wine dark sea.”  Here’s a watercolor that evolved from a sunset painting to a just after sunset painting, with some small waves in the foreground.
